Unhealthy Air Quality Index levels in southern California

In the West, abundant sunshine and warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. In addition, some pollutant carryover from previous days will result in some areas in southern California expected to reach Unhealthy AQI levels. In the South, Midwest, and East, mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. Some parts of Texas are expected to see Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups AQI levels on Monday. Major metropolitan areas, such as Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. will see Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups AQI levels. Details...

May marks the beginning of ozone season in most areas of the country – a good time to make sure that you check your daily Air Quality Index (AQI) and forecast information to help you protect your health. “Be Air Aware: Keep an Eye on the AQI” is the theme of this year’s Air Quality Awareness Week, April 28 to May 2. NOAA and the Environmental Protection Agency established the awareness week to remind Americans of the importance air quality forecasts can play in their daily lives. Details...
